Happily NOT participating in Super Bowl

The Super Bowl has turned into a new American holiday. I've never, ever cared for American football and every year, a bigger deal is made about it than the year before. We went to the grocery store yesterday to pick up some food for our South African dish we made (my friend Carolyn was here) and it was packed like it was the day before Thanksgiving. Not quite that bad, but nearly so! And all the promotions on TV you hear about it. UGH.

Our plans today are to go visit my friends Melanie and Daryll at their home! Daryll's going away to England to visit his family for a week and this is his last weekend at home, so what better time to make a trip out to the Hoopla House. It's supposed to be close to 70 degrees today, so it's better to be out and about! :)

Oh Amy Lou, you've just been gone for too many winters ;). The Super Bowl Sunday madness has always been here, as long as there have been Super Bowls and fans. And what the hell, if it gets families and friends together to eat some food and hoist some drinks and have a good time... as long as they don't hurt themselves (well, stupid humans do that sometimes) or anyone else, let them have a reason for a party in the winter time (pre-taxes!) and get rowdy. I think it's amusing how so many people get wrapped up in it. You should see how even in technology companies totally see it as a venue for showing of new visual special effects for the half-time advertisement slots. And, well, it's American. You otta see the European soccer-nuts in full force, unbelievable them folks, Americans are tame in comparison. But the best thing about the Super Bowl is it is American, so we can change the channel! yay! :D

I'm attending my first ever Super Bowl party today.
I've always disliked football. Always. I didn't understand it and thought it was boring.

Then, a few months ago, I let Jim explain the rules to me and I just sat and watched the game. It was raining outside and nothing else was on tv. I actually found it interesting.
I don't hate football anymore now. In fact, I've watched several games.
It helps if you imagine the players naked from the waist down.

My favorite thing about the "stupid bowl" (old name I've called it since childhood) are the commercials. LOL!
