I passed the CBEST!

YAY! I studied long and hard and today I got my unofficial results online. I passed with flying colors -- the reading, math and writing. What a relief and weight off my shoulders. Now I have quite a few more job opportunities. :) YIPPEEE!!!!!

CBEST stands for the California Basic Education Skills Test. It will enable me to be a substitute teacher or an ESL teacher and perhaps other sorts of teaching where I don't need to have a credential. Off to look for some work today...

Hey

Congratulations - good for you!!

sorry I still haven't gotten back to you via phone, things are crazy here. Even with my 4 day weekend, I didn't have chance to do anything but catch up on school work, shop for my Ebay store, clean and mail eBay packages. :-(

No worries, Michelle. You can call me whenever as I certainly don't want to be another item on your "to do" list. I'm usually always home, so call me when you have plenty of time and we can talk up a storm. :)

Oh Aim, congratulations!!! That's so awesome, you're my freakin' hero sistah! :D

We'll need to celebrate soon, and it's been too long since we've drank champagne together!

Oh, YAY! (clap, clap, clap!)

THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!

I am now praying for a job opportunity. On Monday I applied for an ESL position in Berkeley that pays $22 per hour, which would be greatly needed. I just hate the waiting.

If that doesn't work out, I shall begin the application process for subbing next week and I will apply for Alamed and Oakland school districts.

How can you prepare for the CBEST writing portion if your weakness is writing? I really want to pass the writing section.....

Hi Anonymous,
The review book my sister purchased for me has writing sections in it and tips on how to write better with examples of good and poor quality essays. It is helpful to review it. What I did was go to the writing section first and write an outline of a possible answer. Then I return to the writing section after finishing the first section (reading). Then outline the second question and after math I wrote out the answer to the second essay question. Hope that helps a little bit and Good Luck!
