To Ratchaburi

Yesterday Golf's family rented a van and we all piled in and went to Ratchaburi, which is about a two hour drive from Bangkok. Why did we go there? It's the town where the Chinese cemetery is for Golf's parents and once a year they go to pay their respects.

We got there and it was the last day for Chinese families to pay respects to passed away family members. Food and paper items were offered, just like we did for Chinese New Year, but at their gravesite. The gravesite has a big mound of earth over it like a small hill. It is cleaned up and then decorated with flower petals, confetti and colorful flags. Before giving the offerings, a bunch of firecrackers are lit off to let them know we are here to give.

After our visit, we went to a nice seafood restaurant and were back in Bangkok by 2 PM. Not bad, as it was very hot there in Ratchaburi. Glad I brought my umbrella!
